The mission of Human Resources Department is to provide services in personnel management and employment.  The framework for Human Resources is to:  monitor personnel actions by assuring adherence to federal, state and local laws, regulations, administer the job classification and compensation plan; establish and maintain benefits package for employees and ensure a discrimination free workplace.

Overseeing the hiring procedures for City positions duties include recruitment, advertisement of vacant positions, qualifying of  applications for interview, new employee processing and orientations.  Human Resources also maintains the official personnel records and processes payroll for City employees.

Human Resources is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the testing and training functions for the City of Pikeville.

The Human Resources also administers the health and dental care plans, deferred compensation, basic and supplemental life insurance, and retirement.
