The Tax Department is responsible for billing and collecting city property taxes, franchise tax, franchise bank deposit tax, business license fees, occupational tax, alcoholic beverage licenses, and transient room taxes.

The Tax Administrator, which has over 35 years experience within the city, is also a member of the Kentucky Occupational License Association and the Recipient of the 2006 Who's Who Among Tax Administrator's.
The tax department, is located on the 1st floor of Pikeville City Hall. Office hours are Monday -Friday, 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

CITY BUSINESS LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
What is an Occupational/Business License Registration?
Any person, partnership, corporation, or other legal entity must register with the Occupational License Fee Division prior to conducting business inside the city limits.

CITY LICENSE FEES AND FORMS:
The City of Pikeville has an Occupational License Fee Ordinance which imposes a License Fee of 2% of the Net Profits on all business in the city. Also, you are required by the ordinance to withhold 2% of the gross compensation paid all employees for work done in the City of Pikeville regardless of where they live and pay this quarterly to the City Tax Administrator.
Contractors are subject to a Minimum Occupational License Fee of $10.00 per year, plus a contractor's fee 1/4 of 1% on the total contract price on all contracts taken within the city limits of Pikeville.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE:
The following kinds of distilled spirits and malt beverage licenses may be issued by the city and the annual fees for each license shall be:
- Wholesaler (Distilled Spirits/Wine) $3,000
- Retail Distilled Spirits/Wine (Package) $600
- Distributor (Malt Beverage) $400
- Retail (Malt Beverage) New Applicants $200, Renewals $150
- Retail Drink (Wine) $300
